Prior to screwing in the first two pieces which are the PVC 1/2" NPT threaded end cap and the PVC 1/2" NPT male and 1/2" NPT female fitting, we must insert the steel wool into the 1/2" NPT male 1/2" NPT female fitting. The steel wool is inserted in the male threaded end as shown here.
